Hello! Does anyone have information on when audiences are activated in AEP how long does it take for them to be realized in internal destinations? What is the processing time?

Hello! Great question — audience activation timing in Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) depends on the destination type and segment evaluation frequency.

Here’s a quick breakdown:

 Real-Time Segment Evaluation

  • For streaming segmentation, audiences update almost instantly (within 5–15 minutes) once qualifying events are ingested.

  • Ideal for real-time destinations like AJO (Adobe Journey Optimizer), personalization, and triggered campaigns.

Batch Segment Evaluation

  • For batch-evaluated audiences, the evaluation job usually runs every 24 hours (once daily), unless manually triggered or scheduled differently.

  • After evaluation, activation to internal destinations (like Customer Data Lake, Profile API, or internal SFTP) can take up to 60–90 minutes post-completion.

⚙️ 3️⃣ Destination Sync Time (Internal / External)

  • Internal destinations (AJO, Analytics, Real-Time Profile APIs) → Usually < 1 hour post segment qualification.

  • External destinations (e.g., Facebook, Google, SFTP) → Depend on their sync window; typical delay 2–4 hours.

Key Tip:
If you’re troubleshooting delays — check Segment Job History and Destination Activation Logs in AEP UI → Connections → Destinations → Monitoring tab.
That gives exact timestamps of activation completion.

Audience activation timing in AEP depends on how the segment is evaluated:

Real-time segments: audiences appear in internal destinations within 5–15 minutes.

Batch segments: usually evaluated daily; once complete, internal destinations get updates in ~60–90 minutes.

Tip: Check Segment Job History and Destination Activation Logs in AEP UI → Connections → Destinations → Monitoring for exact timestamps.

This covers most use cases for internal destinations like AJO, Profile API, and personalization
Adobe documentation on audience activation confirms that audiences become ready for use in journeys or personalization shortly after ingestion or batch evaluation:
