We're pleased to announce the general availability of the Adobe Experience Platform Mobile SDK, initially released in the fall of 2018. This new major version has been re-architected from the ground up and replaces the existing 4x Mobile SDK. This new Adobe Experience Platform SDK is easily configured and managed via Adobe Experience Platform Launch, and provides a wide variety of new features in addition to the existing functionality from the 4x Mobile SDK.

The Adobe Experience Platform SDK is available today for Android and iOS and also includes support for React Native. In addition to server-side and programmatic configuration options, the SDK also supports third-party vendor extensions, and a robust client-side rules and actions engine.

The Adobe Experience Platform SDK also introduces support for new Adobe solution functionality such as mobile push and in-app messaging from Adobe Campaign Standard, visual editing via Adobe Target, point of interest management through Location Services, and mobile app validation using Project Griffon that we’ll cover in future blog posts.

Made for developers

These new SDKs have been designed with the goal of having zero impact on the user experience by staying off of your application’s main thread. SDK activity occurs on background threads, allowing for more responsive and high-performing apps in terms of the user experience. To further enhance mobile app performance, the mobile SDK development team takes extensive measures to implement platform-specific best practices related to networking, threading, disk access, and battery life.
