Hi Team,

We are migrating existing website from aem 6.3 to aem 6.5. As part of the new repository restructuring do we also suppose to migrate /etc/maps to any new location. if yes what is the new location?

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

I dont think there is a change for resource mappings as part of repository restructuring as documentation still says the same [1]

they did changed a lot in the package structure. with the new filevault Version 1.1.4 it's really hard to get the build success. I'm still searching for a package where to put the config for /etc/map. I know in CRX has nothing changed, but in the Code (IDE) with all the new packages structure and depedencies, it's a different story.

Heres a Link that describes what should be in the different packages, but they missed to tell where to put "/etc/map"

Hi @srikanthg212933

Yeah, there is no change in /etc/replication. All the changes are mentioned here : https://docs.adobe.com/content/help/en/experience-manager-65/deploying/restructuring/repository-rest...

There is no new location for /etc/map or /etc/replication as per adobe. You don't need to move these locations.

I can confirm, location of /etc/map has not been changed in 6.4 Or 6.5

You won't need to restructure /etc/map. It should remain at the same location.

The following document may be helpful in performing Repository Restructuring in AEM 6.5:

Just adding some additional details the answers provided by the AEM community supporters.

Apache Sling is one of the core technologies Implemented in the AEM stack. Apache Sling’s documentation includes a section for mapping resource resolution and within the documentation, it highlights the mapping entry specification. According to the documentation, the configuration is organized and constructed form the resource path of /etc/map.

So nothing needs to be changed here.

It’s an Apache Sling thing!

Take a look at the Apache Sling’s mapping resource resolution documentation - https://sling.apache.org/documentation/the-sling-engine/mappings-for-resource-resolution.html
