Unique Open & Click counts

I'm trying to understand how the Open and Click Unique counts are determined?  I've extracted the tracking logs from a delivery, and then did a distinct on the profiles and do not come up with the same number as the dashboards provide for a distinct count.  The only documentation I found (https://docs.adobe.com/content/help/en/campaign-standard/using/reporting/list-of-reports/delivery-summary.html) is very basic and doesn't provide an understanding of what constitutes a distinct count of 1 because it's not a count of the unique profiles within that delivery.

    The tracking indicators can be a bit confusing, what I'd suggest is taking a look at the documentation below which details all the indicators used in the reporting:
