Hot Clicks Reports for Sends Not Working

Hello, I am sending out a newsletter email using ACS. The email uses dynamic conditions for the Header and Footer, but the articles are variable based on the structure level using Conditional Visibility settings.  Each article has at least one CTA that is a URL link. Just sent to 1.6K successfully. In the send delivery dashboard, when I click on hot clicks report, it displays only the header and footer. None of the articles and so there is no way to see the hot clicks per article. I created a report based on Tracked URL and URL labels that shows there is data track with about a 17% CTR. How do I get the Hot Click report to display correctly for this delivery? Note, one earlier tests, it did display correctly.

I share some solutions, that could potentially help you to resolve your issue:

 

- Ensure that each URL within the dynamic sections (articles) has a unique and identifiable label in the ACS configuration. This is key for tracking to work correctly and be reflected in the reports. You might need to revisit the configuration of your Conditional visibility settings to ensure that all URLS are properly recognised by the system.

 

-Clear your cache or view the report in a private/incognito browser window to ensure  you're looking to the latest data.

 

- Double- check the configuration of tracked URLs and labels in the email template. Ensure that each URL is associated with a unique tracking label, and these labels are correctly applied in the dynamic content blocks.

 

-Adjust the report settings to include all links, not just the top ones. Check if you have an option to expand or customize the report to show all tracked URLS.

 

-If the above does not resolve the issue contact Adobe Support providing them with specifics about your email setup (including the dynamic conditions and conditional visibility) and the discrepancy between your tracked URL data and what's shown in the Hot Clicks report.

 

Workaround: You can potentially create a more detail custom report that replicates the Hot Clicks functionality but takes into consideration the dynamic content, allowing you to track clicks per article effectively. 

If the Hot Clicks report previously displayed correctly correctly during testing, compare the configuration settings from that test deployment to your current live deployment to identify any differences.

Hi,

 

To make the visibility conditions appear in test preview and on hot clicks, if the URLs all work fine with hot clicks when their are not visibility conditions, does this mean you need visibility conditions specifically for test profiles. And if so, is there a way to make the visibility conditions that work with production profiles work with test profiles without adding conditions specific for test profiles?

Visibility conditions are designed to work based on the data linked with each profile. If your test profiles do not meet the same conditions as the production profiles, content wont' be visible. So your test profiles must meet the criteria set by the visibility conditions. Test profiles often don't have the same data as production profiles, which could provoke the content to be hidden during testing.

 

You can make production visibility conditions work for test profiles by being sure that test profiles have the same structure or data as production profiles, visibility conditions can work in both environments without the need of adjustments for test profiles. Another way to do it would be to temporarily modify visibility conditions during testing to simulate different recipient data sets without altering the actual logic that is used in production.

Thank you Celia,

 

One of the issues is the hot clicks reports. It won't show when we use visibility conditions. If we omit them in a send, it works. But if we add them, the hotclick report won't even show the content with visibility conditions. If we change the profiles to a profile that has the data elements that match the VC, still won't work.

The issue with hot click reports not displaying for content that has visibility conditions is related to how the system tracks clicks for dynamic content.

 

You may have done it already, but test with broader audience segments and as a final step I will contact Adobe Support to see what is happening.
