Subdomain reporting

Avatar

In one of the report suites I've inherited, I see all the subdomains of one of my websites in the 'Servers' report:

www.site.com - x page views

forums.site.com  - y page views

research.site.com - z page views

However, in a different report suite for a different site, which also uses subdomains, I get no reporting, just the dreaded

No data match these criteria. Please verify the segment, metrics, date range and filters.

I've looked for info in the documentation about subdomains but haven't found out how this data gets collected or what might be the cause of the differences in the two reports. Would appreciate any suggestions about how to proceed. Thanks

Hi Joe,

If the tracking is not present in the debugger then it may be getting set either through processing rules OR an Adobe Engineering Services VISTA rule.

Hi Joe,

I would recommend verifying using debugging tools to check that the subdomain is getting set properly within the other issue domain name in question. Look for what is set to s.server in the tracking call to verify and also make sure the associated metric pulled in is applicable to your view. The servers report simply acts as a Custom Traffic reserved variable, but it can be set to any value as has been done at your organization.

It sounds like there are differences within your implementation that will need to be bridged to ensure there is continuity across report suites with the server (re-purposed as subdomains) report in this case.

Best,

Brian

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the information. The odd thing on my side is that I can't see where server is set on http://www.crn.com (my 'working' site) other than in the url, which is working properly on both crn and  http://www.itbestofbreed.com/ (my 'non-working' site). The debugger appears to give me similar info in both cases.

Are all transmitted fields show in the debugger?

thanks
