Sequential segments Page A then B

Avatar

Hi! I'm trying to make a visit segment where a visitor lands on page A then page B as the next page.

Should I be using "AFTER 1 page view" or "WITHIN 1 page view". Using after gets a lot lower number.

Thanks!

If Page A and Page B must happen in consecutive pageviews, then ideally a sequential segment where Page equals A > Then after 1 Page view > Page equals B should yield the expected results. I don't think using 'Within 1 one-page view' is valid in this use case.

Thanks for the reply!

If I use after, does it mean as long as Page B is hit after 1 page view it'll count?

For example if it goes "Entry > another Page > Page B" would that not be included if I use AFTER 1 page view?

Yes, I believe so; this should ideally mean after Page A (pageview call), the next hit should be Page B.

In these cases, I often find it easiest to use a flow visualization and create a segment that shows the logic I want to replicate.  In this example from our sandbox, I build a flow starting with homepage.  Then I right clicked on search results page and selected create segment from this path.  The segment that's created indicates then within 1 page view.

(Using after 1 page view would mean you want to only include page views that happened more than 1 pageview later in the visit.)
