Need to be able to set up an alert when instances of...

I don’t want an alert on a specific value in a prop, but rather for the whole prop itself, like if prop1 stops firing on the site.

Let’s say prop 1 contains the values below (plus 100 more values as well).  I’d want to be notified when any of them is ‘below or equals’ 10 in the alert settings.  It is too time consuming to set up an alert for each item in the prop. 

I also tried putting that prop in workspace and right-clicking to ‘create an alert’ from selection but it pulled up the alert manager with the ‘anomaly exists’ selector instead of “below or equals” selector and it’s also too time consuming to change each one.

We can do this with eVars by using the green/metric "instances" of that eVar. 
Would like to be able to do the same with props.

Hi Meghan,  I might need clarification on your request, but I'll give it a stab regardless. 

• Are you trying to be alerted when the prop just stops collecting data altogether
  • (i.e. < 10 occurrences regardless of value within the last 24 hours)
• OR are you trying to be alerted when any single value stops being collected
  • (i.e. < 10 occurrences of the value "Search" within the last 24 hours)?

I might have a solution if the first item above applies to your problem.

In the following example, the "Successful Searches" dimension is a classification based off of an "Internal Search Keyword" prop.  It contains only one value - "Successful" - and will be filled in for those keywords that successfully returned results.  All other raw values do NOT fill in the "Successful Searches" classification

 

The alert above should fire if the "Successful" classification doesn't show up more than 10 times in a hit within the last 24 hours.  In other words, any value can be classified and thus would apply to the alert if you're not looking for a drop in any one specific value.

Thank you Ken!  I actually think that solution would work better for the 2nd scenario you described where you have a specific value of a prop you'd like to be alerted on.
My use case is:  Let's say I have prop20 which captures make model for any carpage a customer lands on.  There are hundreds of different make model values within prop20.   But I only want to be alerted if prop20 stops firing overall on the carpage.

Hi Meghan,

Create an advanced calculated metric that counts Page Views only when prop1 exists (is set). This metric will be available when you are setting up an alert.
