Workspace: Easier custom date range creator

I had a request from a colleague to create a Workspace project that would allow them to compare two date ranges for specific metrics. The two date ranges weren't set in stone, they could be any two set of dates, so I couldn't pre-set the date ranges. I created a report that looks like this:

It would be nice if I could right click on each of the date ranges and change them. This would make it quicker to alter the date ranges I want to compare.

frankd55973318,

Just a tip on how you can quickly compare metrics Day over Day, Week over Week, Month over Month, etc.

Advise your colleagues to use Day/Week/Month dimensions as shown in the screenshot:

Let me know if it works as a workaround in the meantime?

Thanks Andrey.

That is very useful if I am comparing specific weeks but if I want a more custom date range, like 10 days, I would still need to do it another way

That's right. You may want to make a survey to find out what the most frequently comparison periods are. This may give you an idea about what custom date ranges to set up to cover 80-95% of use cases. Hope, it will be a great step forward.

You should be able to hover over the custom date range, click on the , and then edit from there.  Perhaps you are asking for something different, though.

Hi Brandon,

The issue with this is it requires me to create a custom date range in the first place (the edit option isn't available for the preset date ranges like 'last month' and 'last 7 days') and I am not a fan of creating custom date ranges because it clogs up the 'Time' list.

If there was a way to create custom date ranges that then wouldn't be saved in the list, that would be helpful.

Thanks,

Frank

Hi Frank,

Right click on the column with the desired metric, select Add time period column > Custom date range...

This will add another column with the specified data range and metric you began with.

Thanks Andrey, that is helpful and is what I'm looking for.

I still think the it would be nice that when you did this, you didn't have to go to a separate page to create your data range. It would be good if a calendar pop up appeared and you could create the data range right there.

Thanks.
