Global date range for Dashboard reportlets

Existing Functionality: Currently users select a date range for each reportlet within a dashboard. Users must edit each reportlet to adjust the date ranges or make all reportlets use the same date range.

Idea: Provide users the ability to select a 'global' date range for reporlets in a dashboard.  Selecting a single 'global' date range for a dashboard would reflect that selected date range throughout all reportlets in the dashboard.  This would greatly reduce the amount of effort with updating or viewing an existing dashboard for a select time period.

This is on one hand a good idea and would be very useful. On the other hand there might be reportlets that should be for a different date range then the rest. For example: the first reportlet is showing the total year to date, all others are showing last months only.

The mentioned functionality would be great but only if we could fix certain reportlet date ranges like this can be done for publishing list (prevent from overwriting).
