It would be great if calendar events could be added to analyss workspace
@bengaines Not everyone goes on this ideas exchange, so its not the best indication of what would be best for all customers. We have over 700 users here and would be such a big benefit. Every week I have someone at least asking why they have to use both workspace and reports just to see calendar and the other to drill down in the data. Not productive.
Let me know who we can speak to at Adobe to escalate this idea please or how i can go about building a business case for you guys?
This is a great discussion!
First, I think we do understand how aggravating it is for your users to have to switch back and forth. Any delay in getting calendar events into Workspace isn't borne out of a lack of empathy. Our goal is for Analysis Workspace to be the place for analysis in the future. It's a long road getting there (in part because of all of the tremendous capabilities built into Reports & Analytics and Ad Hoc Analysis over well more than a decade), and we understand that there will be some frustration at lack of functionality while we add more and more to Workspace. (For example, we just barely added pathing to Workspace last month, even though this has existed in Reports & Analytics for years.) We are trying to avoid "quick and dirty" solutions so that Workspace remains a powerful, elegant analytics product for many years to come, but that does mean that we request patience in some areas. Anyway, I appreciate the concerns you're raising and I hope you know that we don't take them lightly.
Interestingly, while we do review the Idea Exchange often (in fact, every single idea submission and comment generates an email to about 40 people at Adobe), it is far from the only source, or even the main source, of roadmap innovation for us. It is the best place for our many many customers to log needs and let others weigh in on use cases as they come up. It provides a scale that we can't replicate through in-person meetings, or even email. But in some ways, the Idea Exchange is often a pretty bad indication of what would be best for all customers as we try to evolve with rapidly changing market needs; there are some truly major game-changing initiatives (for example, Device Co-op, Customer Attributes, etc.) that do not even get submitted here, while the current top vote-getting open idea has to do with wrapping text headers in SiteCatalyst dashboards.
All of this having been said, Calendar events are a high priority, and we confirm that each time we review and reprioritize our product backlog, but there are a handful of major capabilities (which won't be named here) that are even higher. We're actually really excited about that.
We have been extremely productive (in terms of new feature development) over the past several years--I hope you've seen that with Workspace, Contribution Analysis, Segment IQ, etc.--and we will continue to be so. There are perhaps a hundred features that I (and many customers) would love to see us work on. Our role as product managers is to prioritize. The feedback we have gotten from a variety of sources, of which the Idea Exchange is one, tells us how to think about these things and allocate our developers' time, and I stand by our current prioritization unequivocally as representative of the biggest opportunities to solve the most pressing customer problems that we see every day from our work in the marketplace, in our industry (and other industries adjacent to ours), reviewing direct customer feedback (e.g. the Idea Exchange), and ethnographic research including countless interviews with customers and prospects of all shapes and sizes.
@bengaines really appreciate you giving such a detailed response. I definitely notice the great work that Adobe has been doing in particular with Adobe Workspace recently. Looking forward to seeing what 2017 will bring! Thanks again
@jasonedds - Excellent comments. To have Calendar events displayed "contextually" would be amazing.
Recently, my company (news/publishing) implemented Moltin ecommerce and within the first 30 minutes it was live, we realized it was passing product price as if it were in cents and without decimal points. Resultantly, two subscription purchases were processed for $240 and $110. In Adobe, the purchases were recorded as $24,000 and $11,000 respectively. Lon story short, the error was fixed quickly but for that one day, our revenue was inflated by $34,650. That's a very significant event for which our executives require context and explanation.
With that said, my two suggestions are as follows:
Cannot wait for this feature to come to life in Workspace as we democratize the data to more and more users, it becomes more and more difficult to keep everyone aligned on the same page.
waiting for this one for a long time!
Waiting for this too!
The suggestion is older than three years and it is still under review. It seems there is no progress in our suggestions 😞
Is there a roadmap for the next months available?
I'm a pure Workspace user and recent client of Analytics. I was just discussing with a colleague how we could track things like server outages, campaigns and press announcements that affect activity. I was thrilled to discover Calendar Events in the Components menu, then disappointed as I realized they didn't apply to Workspace.
Let me just add my voice to the others who have been upvoting this: it's a great feature that helps give context to spikes and troughs. Even a basic version of this added soon would be a great plus for those of us who are following your guidance and moving to 100% use of Workspace.
Marking as a duplicate of Calendar Events in Analysis Workspace - please show your support there!
