Analysis Workspace - Feature Request (Dynamic Dimensions)

Hello,

I built a table that uses the "Week" dimension in the "X axis" but it doesn't automatically updated when you use a rolling week date range.

It currently requires you to manually remove the "week" dimension column and apply it again to reflect the new week.

This defeats the purpose of scheduling a workspace report. I spoke with client care and they mentioned this is a design flaw.

Please add this feature to workspace analysis.

Thanks,

Yesenia

i use dynamic week dimensions on the left side all the time! even in scheduled projects!

are you really sure that this doesn't work? have you set the workspace project timeframe to rolling?

urs.boller   Yes, the date is based on a rolling timeframe. When you say you used the week dimension on the left side you mean you dropped it into the rows? I am using it as a column. I've already checked with client care and they stated that this is a design flaw.

"What happens is if you drop a dimension (say Week) on the x-axis (columns), it will immediately explode the top 5 (or 15 for time dimensions) dimension values as column filters. But after that, they are just dimension value column filters as if you had manually dropped them in - they are not dynamically tied to the dimension. So this is intentional, however, this is not user-friendly and which is why our Engineering Team has agreed to work on this feature request.

As a workaround, what you can do is remove the week columns and again put back the week dimension in that column. It will show the updated weeks according to the date range selected for the panel."

yeseniag93296540 ok, i see your point! that is really a new feature.

just an idea: can you use custom time ranges? eg. create the time ranges for the last 1 to 5 weeks and drop them in the table header (instead of the dimensions)? not the same because it will not show the top5 dimension, but as a work around you have a dynamic time range

That sounds like a great work around. I've created the last week, 2 weeks ago, 3 weeks ago, and 4 weeks ago custom date ranges. I'll let you know Monday if this solution works.

Thanks urs.boller

We've developed a prototype for dynamic column values. Would you guys be open to a quick 30 minute call to take a look & provide feedback? Let me know!
