Hello @ganesanlakshmiMukeshAEM, Ankit_Chaudhary, mahimitra98, Mahesh_Srini, YasaswiSarvabhotla, SrividyaVenkat, Sathya_Murugaiyan,

Nice to meet you all!

Let's stay connected for the next few weeks to achieve our short-term goal of certification.

Before I start posting the first tool kit, let's complete the following by Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

  1. First, log in to the Adobe Credential Management System with your Adobe ID.

  2. Then, go to the Adobe Certification Exam Prep Portal to find your practice test.

  3. Search for Adobe Analytics Architect Master (AD4-E207).
  4. Start a new test in Training Mode.
  5. Whenever you provide an incorrect answer, mark the error and verify the correct information in Adobe's official documentation.
  6. If you can find the answer, that's great. If not, let's initiate a discussion for those questions.

So, this will go in parallel while we review and start our tool kit. All the best!

Hello All,

A global e-commerce company wants to use Adobe Analytics to better understand user behavior on their website. The marketing team for the company would like to measure the influence of internal campaigns on revenue.
The Analytics Architect needs to evaluate and analyze the business requirements, along with the Adobe Analytics features, to formulate a strategy to configure eVars to achieve the desired measurement goals.
What are the appropriate settings for the eVars, including the Name, Type, Allocation, Expiration, and Merchandising options?

eVar5 = InternalCampaigns, Type: Counter, Allocation: Original Value, Expiration: Month,
Merchandising: Not Applicable
eVar5 = InternalCampaigns, Type: Text String, Allocation: Most Recent, Expiration: Week,
Merchandising: Not Applicable

out of these 2 I have opted for first one. But answer is second one. My argument is allocation is based on business use case right ? or most recent is recommended if there's nothing mentioned. And will Expiration also plays tole in selection :  if its month or week ( nothing mentioned in question).

Thanks !!!

Hello @MahimitraCh1 ,

Yes, Allocation and Expiration are based on the business requirements.

However, the first option has the Type = Counter and the option is not for understanding the influence of internal campaigns on revenue. It has to be Type = Text String so that we can capture the campaign name.

In certification exams, if we are not clear with which option to select, then you start excluding the incorrect ones. Simple, but a great strategy to follow.

Hi Arun,

Refer the image attached below:
I answered the below question correctly by elimination method. But, I am confused on why the processing rule set for global report suite will map the data to 'unspecified' and not to the individual report suite directly?

Though, we create the processing rule intentionally that it should apply to all our report suites directly and the data should be perfect.

I think that's not how you look at it. They have 3 report suites  Global, website and App. All the settings are independent for each other including processing rules.

Option one : You only set processing rules for global RS( not web and mobile RS)  where eVar 10 is always set to that context var ( property name.) And this don't inherit to other report suites right ( it's not VRS) ?

So evar 10 might be coming unspecified for mobile property.

Hello @SrividyaVenkat ,

Your question is valid; if you ask me, I would say that it was an incomplete question. I would love not to see these unbaked questions appear in the examination. However, sometimes you cannot avoid situations and thus you need to work on ELIMINATION METHOD.

Hello @ganesanlakshmiMukeshAEM, Ankit_Chaudhary, mahimitra98, Mahesh_Srini, YasaswiSarvabhotla, SrividyaVenkat, Sathya_Murugaiyan,

Here you go with the QUIZ for Module 01: Discovery (18%).

1. The business wants to capture the campaign ID (in s.campaign) that was sent as a URL query string parameter ('cid') in Adobe Analytics. What are the different ways to capture it in real-time? Select all applicable options and explain to me in a sentence why you chose the option.

  1. Use the Core Extension in the Tags Data Element to capture the query string parameter (cid).
  2. Capture the full URL and classify the query string parameter (cid) using RegEx Builder.
  3. Use processing rule to capture the query string parameter (cid) directly without any implementation effort.
  4. Use Marketing Channel Rule builder to capture the query string parameter (cid) directly without any implementation effort.

2. What are the advantages of using a Prop over an eVar. Select all applicable options.

  1. You can use props in real-time reports. eVars take at least 30 minutes to appear in reporting.
  2. When you enable pathing on a prop, Entry and Exit dimensions immediately become available. If you want entry and exit dimensions for eVars, you can manually create a segment.
  3. Props have a 255-byte limit. eVars have a 100-byte limit.
  4. eVars by default do not persist beyond the hit they are set. Prop have custom expiration, allowing you to determine when an eVar no longer gets credit for a subsequent event.

3. You have been asked to write technical specifications to add tracking to the internal search functionality. Requirement is understand the below:

  • Search Term used in the internal search before a conversion is made on the site.
  • Search Term results in 0 results
  • Search Term results in > 1 results
  • How many Searches have been made before a conversion is made on the site.

Select all applicable options and explain to me in a sentence why you chose the option.

  1. eVar with String Type & Visit expiration to capture the Search Term. eVar with String Type & Visit to capture the Searches made before the conversion. Two events; 1 to capture the 0 results and another to capture >1 results.
  2. eVar with String Type & Conversion Event expiration to capture the Search Term. eVar with Counter Type & Conversion Event expiration to capture the Searches made before the conversion. Two events; 1 to capture the 0 results and another to capture >1 results.
  3. eVar with String Type & Visit expiration to capture the Search Term. eVar with String Type & Visit to capture the Searches made before the conversion. Prop to capture the count of results displayed.
  4. eVar with String Type & Conversion Event expiration to capture the Search Term. eVar with Counter Type & Conversion Event expiration to capture the Searches made before the conversion. Prop to capture the count of results displayed.

1)   1 - applicable and most common approach in launch, we can capture cid directly in data element and then send in any page load rule.

3 - this is applicable as it can be done directly in adobe analytics without dev support .

2)  1,2 are applicable.  Props are processed real time.

Props have patting enabled by default, so no need to do anything more which is not in                 case of eVar's.

3). 2 - Applicable. Because eVar with conversion event expiry solves first requirement. and counter evar for number of searches before conversion. events. are straight forward.

4- Applicable - similar to above but using prop for number of search results instead of event allows us to drill down further using count. for example we can bucket them like count (1-50,50-100 and so on ) .

Hi Arun,

1st Question: For the first one my options would be 1 & 3 (i.e Data element & Processing rule)

 Why it is right:
1: Using the Core Extension in Adobe Tags (Launch) we can create a Data Element that can directly capture utm query string into a separate eVar . This method is more simple to implement overall, but requires the use of extra eVars.
3: Processing rules in Adobe Analytics allow you to set up logic that captures and processes data based on conditions like query string parameters. This can be done without needing to modify the site code, making it a quick and effective solution.
2nd Question: The correct answers are 1 & 2.

Why 1 & 2 is correct?
1:  Props are processed almost immediately, allowing their data to be available in real-time reports. eVars, on the other hand, are processed after a delay, typically around 30 minutes, so they do not appear in real-time reports.
2: Props support pathing, which allows you to see the sequence of values that a user traverses. Enabling pathing on a prop automatically provides Entry and Exit metrics. For eVars, pathing is not as straightforward and would require segments or custom configurations to achieve similar insights.

3rd Question: The correct option is 1.

Why 1 is right?

  • Based on the requirement provided they have asked for the Search Term Results 0 & >1.Hence, capturing it as events are the best.

From my perspective felt these could be appropriate options.

1. Option 1 & 3:
1 - its enables to capture the 'cid' query string parameter directly
3 - processing rules can capture the 'cid' parameter directly from the URL without updating anything in the implementation code.

2. Option 1 & 2:

1. Props are available in real-time reports but eVars have a delay before they appear in reports
2. Props can have pathing enabled which gives us entries & exits, but for eVars, we should manually create segments which may lead to manual error.

3. Option 2:
Capture search term continuously until a conversion (1st requirement), a Counter Type eVar for counting searches (4th requirement), two events help to capture 0 & >1 (2nd & 3rd requirement)

Hello @ganesanlakshmiMukeshAEM, Ankit_Chaudhary, mahimitra98, Mahesh_Srini, YasaswiSarvabhotla, SrividyaVenkat, Sathya_Murugaiyan,

Here you go with the QUIZ Answers.

Question 01:

1. Use the Core Extension in the Tags Data Element to capture the query string parameter (cid).

3. Use processing rule to capture the query string parameter (cid) directly without any implementation effort.

#2 is not the right option because the question asks for real-time data collection. #4 is also not the right option because using Marketing Channel we cannot capture the value in campaign ID (in s.campaign).

Question 02:

1. You can use props in real-time reports. eVars take at least 30 minutes to appear in reporting.

2. When you enable pathing on a prop, Entry and Exit dimensions immediately become available. If you want entry and exit dimensions for eVars, you can manually create a segment.

Reference Link: Prop and eVar.

Question 03:

2. eVar with String Type & Conversion Event expiration to capture the Search Term. eVar with Counter Type & Conversion Event expiration to capture the Searches made before the conversion. Two events; 1 to capture the 0 results and another to capture >1 results.

4. eVar with String Type & Conversion Event expiration to capture the Search Term. eVar with Counter Type & Conversion Event expiration to capture the Searches made before the conversion. Prop to capture the count of results displayed.

#1 and #3 are having different expiration than the requirement. Also, both #2 and #4 is okay based on the Architect Call. Architect can either use events or a prop to understand the search with results and without results.

Hi Arun,

Would like to know how will the 'regular expression' questions would be like and how can I prepare for the regular expressions when learning from scratch. As well, would like to know few scenarios on when can the regular expressions be used on priority.

Hello @SrividyaVenkat ,

Focus on two items: Concatenation and Dissociation.

Example for Concatenation: If Percentage Page View is capturing any numbers from 1 - 100, how do we group them as 1 - 25%, 25% - 50%, 51 - 75%, 76% to 100% using RegEx.

Example for Dissociation: Regular Expression to extract a particular delimiter value, i.e 'Term1:Term2:Term3:Term4’.
