Workfront Documents Tab Issue

The Documents tab is showing a number of items that does not match the actual number of Documents attached to the project. The number seems to be counting documents and folders. Per the example project attached, this should say Documents (1).

Our team noticed that too, I have logged a support ticket on it.

I noticed that change a few weeks ago to. Never got around to finding out when or why it changed. It freaked out my project managers cause they thought their documents were deleted.

I confirm, for me it's a clear bug, but after speaking with Support today I think it still hasn't been properly recognized.

I now learned from support this is intended behaviour, which is really stupid for me. I listed for the product team 3 reasons why I think so, if you have others please add to the list:

  1. It ruins well established practice where number indicates numbers of documents (strictly speaking)
  2. It suggests there are files, when there aren't (scenario with empty folders)
  3. it suggests files are missing (multiple files in single folder)

Honestly they should just take the number away entirely. To me there is no benefit to the number anymore.

I had also raised a support ticket and they informed me that the "product team decided to change the functionality to prioritize performance."

This change does make the number count more irrelevant and less useful. We have some teams that have folders created by means of their project templates, so now all of their projects have a document number even if there are no documents within the project.
