When I convert an Issue/Request to a Project, I am not showing as the owner - why?

My colleagues are having trouble and I can't figure out what is going wrong. When I convert to Project, I am always named the owner of the project. For some reason, when they convert them, they are NOT recorded as the owner, the person who loaded the Issues/Requests to Workfront is recorded as the owner and they need to manually change it each time. Is there something I am missing??

Are you using templates when converting the requests to projects? Check the template they are using to see if that user is the template owner.

Template Owner = Project Owner.

Oh really?!? Is there a way to make that not happen? We have various templates for many different projects. I want the converter to be named the owner of the project. Is that a possibility? Because when we convert, we convert using a template...

If you remove the template owner name the person converting will become the owner. If you have someone set as the template owner it will override the user becoming the assignee.

You can also create a template which assigns a specific person or role to any position of responsibility within the project.  Owner, Stakeholder, Resource Manager, you can assign specific tasks, etc.
