Hello. Anyone here know how to set task approvals for a project? Basically, all tasks that are created in this project need approval. User will enter task and will set task status to 'in-progress' which will trigger approval process. At this time, it's a manual 'add approval process' each time a task is created. I would like to setup for automatic approval. I've also noticed that initiating approvals at 'new' status really doesn't work. I've tried, but once I created the task (which defaults to new) it didn't kick off the approval process. I needed to re-reselect the 'new' status. Any have the same issue? As far as i'm aware there is no way in Workfront setting to get approval automatically attached on new created tasks. All happen manually. I imagine probably you would be able to do it with API help and some custom field kicking it off. But i'm not as much in depth of that. API specialist needed! :) Dagmara Garwell BAKKAVOR LTD
You can do it via the API (we currently do that for a few things). However I believe you can just create a template and the Approvals can be set in the tasks in the template (assuming you can use a pre made template - I.e you have a consistent approved). By the way, setting an approval on a New status looks like a horrible thing. One of our workflows (templates) has that, so that the task doesn't roll to the assigned worker until the PM is ready for it to do so. So from what I've heard, the PM has to approve the task status, then edit the planned completion dates (it's a Must Finish On task constraint), and then re-set the approval. >_< -skye
