Showing a dropdown value vs label in a report

Avatar

Level 4
The question of how to show the label vs the value in a dropdown has come to me several times in the past week so I thought I should share. Normally when you select this field in a report you will always see the labels. To instead show values you need a little text mode. If you select your US State column in standard mode and convert to text mode you will see the following text. I've added US State Label to clarify my view. This would be blank when you convert. displayname=US State Label linkedname=direct namekey=US State querysort=DE:US State textmode=true valuefield=US State valueformat=customDataLabelsAsString To instead show the label you want to use the following: displayname=US State Value textmode=true valueexpression={DE:US State} valueformat=HTML Note that having columns that share the same namekey can cause strange behavior, so I removed the unnessary lines. Also I'm considering writing a book on Workfront administration and reporting. Would love to know if there would be any interest in purchasing an ebook if I create it. -- Melinda Layten, Senior Consultant Work Management Improvement CapabilitySource Phone: (484) 505-6855 site: www.capabilitysource.com email: melinda.layten@capabilitysource.com - we simplify your work so you can run your business -
