Kanban Board status changes

Avatar

Hi, When using a Kanban board can you only change the status of a issue or task directly on the board? We have found that if you change the status of the issue from the issue details page it doesn't move it from the backlog to In Progress. The status code is INP as required. It seems to work the other direction, ie change it to In Progress from the Kanban board and the issue itself is updated. Thanks, Mollie

Heya Mollie!

That is correct.

In order to maintain the agile functionality, if you use the waterfall (normal project>task>subtask) methodology, it assumes you're working it as a normal task.

If you go to the kanban board and drag it to the appropriate status you want it to be in, it sticks it into the agile functionality, and considers it a story, not a task.

Once it's initially moved, you can then move it via the task status on the task itself, but the initial move from the backlog has to be a drag/drop from the board.
