Duration is Defaulting to 0

When editing tasks, or adding tasks the duration is changing to 0 and the it doesn't show up in allocation. What is causing this? and how can I make it stop? Is it a bug? Or something I am doing wrong? Emily Byrne The Starr Conspiracy

Hi Emily, It's tough to tell without seeing it, but are the tasks you're editing Parent (Summary) tasks? Because if the children under it are all 0 Duration, the Parent/Summary will also be 0 Duration.

It is not parent tasks. It is just any new task that I add it defaults to 0. Or if I edit an existing task it will change the duration to 0. Emily Byrne The Starr Conspiracy

Hi Emily, I looked at a few things and couldn't find a simple reason for this (nor have I seen it happening here). I would give WF Support a call and they should be able to see your screen and walk you through some debugging steps. I'm betting it's something they can quickly identify by seeing it in action and checking different settings. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Emily and Vic, This happens when the default duration type is set to Simple. It will default to 1 Day for all other duration types. Like Vic, I would recommend Calculated Assignment as the default duration type you should use. I hope this helps!! David

Thanks David. It is just weird because it would usually just default to the system duration. And I haven't changed any systems on the project setups. Its going to be a pain to change it all but I will look into that. Thanks!
