As a user, I want to add Outlook meetings synced to the Workfront Home > Calendar to projects and / or my timesheet (General Time if not assigned to a project). in order to avoid re-keying meetings as tasks or timesheet time in Workfront.

System Functionality Idea: ability to click on an Outlook Meeting in the Workfront Home Calendar that allows you to create a task in a project (pulls the meeting name and duration) or transfer time (duration) to a General Hour Type.

Value: this will minimise the need to switch between systems and increase time in the Workfront platform for the source of all work (incl. meetings).

This would save assigning time against a Project or Task, which creates double keying in of information. Our CEO would really appreciate this functionality.

We would love to see this idea evolve into a specialized object type whose purpose is capture meeting agendas, attendance, notes, and action outputs. Imagine viewing your Outlook calendar in Home, clicking on an event, and selecting “add to project.” Select a project, then a new meeting record appears on the project. Workfront looks at the invite list, performs a lookup for Workfront users from the invite accepted list, and for each user that exists in Workfront, it adds planned hours on the project matching the time and duration of the meeting. Now, you’re taking the biggest time suck in any org (meetings) and attributing that time to specific bodies of work in just a few clicks. Further to that, you can use the meeting object to record actual attendance, agenda, notes, and link it to project tasks and issues that were outputs of the meeting. “Why am I assigned this task? Well it’s linked to this meeting object, let me go check out the meeting notes.” All of this is technically possible to do on the task object, but it requires so much overhead to input the details that could much more easily be extracted from a meeting invite. TLDR: Meetings are just as important as tasks or issues in a project, and deserve their own object type.

I agree, this idea requires much more attention and outlook integration in its current form is close to useless. Calendar events when seen in WF should be clickable to at least get basic idea on the contents, and if its a meeting (e.g. zoom) I should be able to just open appointment, click the link and join the meeting.

There is also one specific difference between worklist and calendar. In worklist view I can edit details of the task, whereas in calendar view I can only see them. Why?

Furthermore, WF objects, tasks and requests, have always specific timeline, start and end time. So why on earth if this is specified in WF I need to manually drag and drop this item again for specific time window in the calendar? (not to mention how poorly this D&D works in calendar view). With multiday events I would assume that "work per date" field available in the system could provide details about allocation for specific day - that could be somehow included in the outlook appointment.

This is exactly the issue that I'm also struggling with. Currently exploring a way to get this functionality through Workfront Fusion and it's incredibly complex because of how recurring meetings work. I agree with the points and ideas that Rafal and Skye shared below as well.

This would add so much value to our users. Please consider addressing this soon.
