Status Order

Provide a way to show statuses in a specified order other than alphabetical. For example, instead of Complete, Execution, Idea, Requested - I would much rather show them in their usual order of Idea, Requested, Execution, Complete.

The only way to do this now is to put a number in front of each of them which is undesirable.

Agree Marc. I have previously raise a request for this as a RAG field (basic project management methodology) sorts them with Amber first!

There are workarounds which we have done whereby you can create rules to display the statuses without the pre-numbering, but this has to be done separately on every view and report that uses that field, which is certainly not ideal.

This would also apply to custom field data being able to sort in a report in the order you need it, not just alphabetical. At present, we have had to put a number at the start of a Month field name so that using this field th group by in a report shows them in order of the months, not alphabetically by name - which is not at all logical.

If the statuses just sorted based on the order in the setup page that would be a start. Sorting based on a three letter code that cannot be changed in the future is a big problem. We just had to do a massive delete all our statuses and rebuild exercise.

Have any of you come across any ideas that would use the milestone path to auto-update the project status? This would alleviate the need for building separate status paths for user groups in the system. Or at least provide an alternative to having to build out so many paths that ultimately should correlate to meaningful project statuses.

Thanks,
