Restoring An Old "Version" of A Project

I get asked all the time about restoring an old version of a schedule. Like for example, a client said that they wanted some extra rounds of creative. The PM adds them in and adjusts the schedule, but then the client realizes that is too expensive and takes them out. No way to go back. They have to delete and readjust things.

My idea has two parts:

First - make the Save Baseline easier to find. Most of PMs don't even know you can save baselines in Workfront

Second - all a PM to restore a baseline so that it is now the "current" schedule.

Hi Anthony - I had no idea "Save Baseline" was an option and I've been using Workfront for 7+ years. Where do I find this?

EXACTLY! No one knows about it.

It is in the More tab. Workfront does save one automatically when after the which from Planning to Current the first time. But it would be great if that is more available for people to use when making changes all the time.

(NOTE: You might have to double check your layout template to make sure it isn't hidden)

I'm guessing saving a baseline automatically is a system setting because I don't show any line items in the baselines tab for my projects. Any idea about that? I'm sure I can look it up in the WF help area but figured I'd ask.

Hi Jenn, in the Setup Area, under Project Preferences and then Projects. The fourth option is "Create baselines automatically"

This would be a great feature! A lot of managers ask to see previous versions of the activities on a project to which we tell them we only can do that in a limited way with timelines. This would be very helpful as, if there are activities that have been deleted or added, those do not appear on baselines.
