It would be awesome if users could add reports and external links to the new Home in addition to pre-made widgets. This would be a similar experience to creating a Dashboard, where you can add reports, calendars and external links.
Currently, dashboards are more flexible and have MUCH more admin control than new home. The one thing new home has that reporting doesn't really have (sort of) is the My Work widget.
I can't really think of a compeling reason to use new home over a dashboard other than pretty colours.
I would however change your statement to "It would be awesome if ADMINS could add reports and external links to the new Home in addition to pre-made widgets."
