Ability to decide when to implement releases

We would to be able and decide when we want to implement a release with new features. Maybe we want to push out new features that wouldn't have a huge impact on our business, but others will change the way we do business, so we'd like to be able to push those out when we are ready.

To further explain. Workfront release 1 is scheduled for April 26-27. Our board meeting is this week and we never deploy anything during board week. Workfront happened to choose our board week to deploy release 1. Some staff are concerned this may be disruptive if we encounter deployment and bug issues with the release. There are some good reasons why your business partners should have input on release dates.

I would like to know if other users experience problems with Workfront release dates that are not planned far enough in advance. I am going to be out of the office in March and Workfront can't tell me the date 2018.1 will be released. I just know it's in March sometime. It's frustrating that Workfront doesn't understand the importance of planning in advance. Also, there have been several releases that occurred during our board meeting. We do not release anything that week, but Workfront doesn't allow us to choose the release dates, or choose to accept or not accept a release. I don't mean to be so harsh, but this has happened numerous times which is problematic for our organization.
