There are many times the default view is very close to what theend users wants. It would be nice if you could copy the default view as a starting point.
I also agree with this one, since my coworker is a report wiz and I end up having to copy over text/code for over 10-20 columns to create a new view from the default that maybe has one or two differences.
Setup > Export Data > Report > Select the report(s) in the picker
Download the kickstart. It will be an xlsx file and 3 “properties” files for each report selected (one each for filter/view/grouping)
Rename the property file prefixed with “view_” to “view_1.properties” instead of “view_longguidhere.properties”
Setup > Import Data > More Options > View > Download xlsx template
In the blank import template, add values under the columns: isNew ID setLayoutType setName setUIObjCode
setLayoutType is always “LIST”
ID is 1 (if adding multiple views, make this value sequential for each row)
In the setDefinition column, enter “view_1.properties”
zip the xlsx import file with the view_1.properties file so you end up with a single zip file
upload the zip as a kickstart import

In addition to the marvelous suggestion from @RandyRoberts / @William-- , in case this simple tip helps...
It is also common practice to select a view of interest (e.g. either the Default view on a report as shown below, or some other "TEMP" view created by another user but shared with you), edit it, and then Save As... to create your own working copy, which you can then adjust (and share) as needed.
