For anyone needing the same thing, I found exactly what I needed:http://www.truetechtroubleshooting.com/2012/02/advanced-expanding-tables-and-script.htmlThe hardest part of getting it working was figuring out how many parent levels I needed to add since I have a heavily layered form.

I tried to do a rowcount and then set the target row at rowcount+1, but then I couldn't figure out how to send the text to the target row.//count rowsvar numberOfRows = form1.sfApp6.tableApp6A.Row1.instanceManager.count;//add rowthis.resolveNode('form1.sfApp6.tableApp6A._Row1').addInstance(1);//Set targetvar targetRow = numberofRows+1;

It looks like you've been merging and splitting rows, which can throw the cell count off. If at all possible, it's best to add and delete columns instead of merging and splitting rows.The quickest thing to do in this case is to start over with a new table. It doesn't look like you have tons of info to move over, but once the new table is ready, you can just move the other fields into it and delete the old table.To keep alignment, you need to make sure that all of your parameters for all of your ...

I have a table that is a summary of other choices made throughout the document. For specific check boxes in the form, there is a defined phrase that needs to be sent to a new row in the summary table.The general idea is that for checkbox:form1.sfMain.sfContent.tableC2.Row1.cbC2b6if (this.rawValue == "1") {this.resolveNode('form1.sfApp6.tableApp6A._Row1').addInstance(1);this.resolveNode("form1.sfApp6.tableApp6A.Row1[*].ddApp6A1c").rawValue = "Blue bottle";}This needs to be something I can specify...

Hopefully you've figured out a workaround by now, but if not, did you try going into the XML and manually changing that reference back to form1.JustAfield?

AI is a vector format, and LiveCycle can only handle raster formats. You'll need to convert your ai file to bmp (which will likely be huge), jpg, png, gif or tif. I would play with your options in Illustrator to see which file type will give you the smallest overall file size, and then make sure that you have it set to the exact size you'll need so you aren't taking up extra file space. You can resize within LiveCycle, but that leaves you with either a distorted image (if you need it to appear b...

In Table1, Row1 is a repeatable row with an autonumber field and add/delete buttons. When you click "add" there is another row added to Table1 AND Table2, with the same autonumber. When you click "delete" I need it to delete the same relative row in both tables.So if the delete button for Table1.Row1[2] is clicked, I want it to delete Table1.Row1[2] and Table2.Row1[2]. Right now it will delete Table1.Row1[2] and Table2.Row1[0].I know it needs to loop and count, but I'm not sure how to incorporat...

What field are you adding the calculate event to? Is the total field inside the same table as the rows you're counting?I double-checked my code (that works in Acrobat and Reader), and I have quite a few calculate fields. The only scripting I used for any of it was that tiny bit - table_name.row_name[*].cell_name[*].

You need to use Sum in the calculate event of the total field. Sum(Table1.Row1[*].items[*]) That's it. It cycles through the rows every time you leave the items field and recalculates.

Is it possible to put a dynamic field in a master page header that will either pull from a hidden text field added to each subform (e.g., appID) or pull in the title of the subform itself? I have a number of variable-sized subforms that need the same header and footer, with the only distinct element being a different number at the top.I've been looking for a standard variable or wildcard that can be used to dynamically reference an object at the same level in multiple subforms, but so far have n...

I get what you're saying. Unfortunately, this solution won't help me because there's a 1∞many relationship - the entries in the first table are unique, but in subsequent tables, the individual data entries may be used once, multiple times, or not at all.Is there perhaps a way to funnel the data from table 1 into a variable I can then pull into the individual dropdown lists on a one-off basis?

I've been trying to solve a specific problem from the bottom up, but perhaps someone else has a better idea on how to structure the whole thing, so it might be more useful to describe what I'm trying to accomplish.I have a dynamic table with a single text field. One entry per line, and users can add as many lines as they need. The data that's entered into that table at the beginning of the form needs to be used in multiple dynamic tables throughout the rest of the form.Ex (yes, not real code, ju...

I've actually gotten a little further with things, and was able to create a function, then call the function to fill the dropdown list in multiple instances: function populateddSpecies(){// get the numbers of rows in both tables.var srcRow = form1.sfVARAPage1.sfA2toT.tableA3.Row1;var srcRowCount = srcRow.instanceManager.count;var destRow = form1.sfVARAPage1.sfA2toT.tableH1.Row1;var destRowCount = destRow.instanceManager.count;// cycle through the dropdown in each of the destination rows and empty their list.for (var j=0; j < destRowCount; j++) {xfa.resolveNode("form1.sfVARAPage1.sfA2toT.tableH1.Row1[ " + j + "].ddSpecies").clearItems();// Now fill the drop down on the current destination row with each of the values in the source row.for (var i=0; i < srcRowCount; i++) {var fieldValue = xfa.resolveNode("form1.sfVARAPage1.sfA2toT.tableA3.Row1[" + i + "].tfA3species").rawValue;xfa.resolveNode("form1.sfVARAPage1.sfA2toT.tableH1.Row1[ " + j + "].ddSpecies").addItem(fieldValue);}}}I still can't set it to be a global data object without destroying the function because the script is specific to one line in one table. I've tried creating a separate variable to feed the data into, then calling up the second variable in all of the needed tables, but haven't hit the right coding yet. At least I feel like I'm a little close...

I had to work with this a bit, and as far as I can tell a major issue was that one of my subforms was named sfA2-T and it didn't like the dash. There was also the issue that the < converts to the HTML coding, but it seemed to work around that problem.So I got the text entries to populate the 1st instance of the dropdown list using this coding: form1.sfVARAPage1.sfA2toT.tableH1.Row1.ddSpecies.clearItems(); // It will clear the existing list var countRow = form1.sfVARAPage1.sfA2toT.tableA3.Row1.instanceManager.count; // count no.of rows for( var i = 0; i < countRow; i++) { var currentItemVal = xfa.resolveNode("form1.sfVARAPage1.sfA2toT.tableA3.Row1["+i+"].tfA3species").rawValue; if(currentItemVal != null) { form1.sfVARAPage1.sfA2toT.tableH1.Row1.ddSpecies.addItem(currentItemVal); // add the item in the dropdown.} else {}} As you mentioned, however, this is a repeated field throughout the document, so once it's set, it can't be static. The correct choices from the dropdown...

I very much appreciate your suggestion.I've tried this in the exit event of the dropdown, the exit event of the table row, the initialize and click events of the dropdown and am still not having any luck.I adapted the code as follows:form1.VARAPage1.sfC2d-U.tableH1.Row1.ddSpecies.clearItems();// It will clear the existing listvar countRow = form1.VARAPage1.sfA2-C2c.tableA3.Row1.instanceManager.count; // count no.of rowsfor( var i = 0; i < countRow; i++) {var currentItemVal = xfa.resolveNode("for...

I am trying to take the values entered by the user in a text field in a repeatable table row (between 1 and 10 rows depending on the user's need) and dynamically populate a dropdown list that is used throughout the rest of the form. I'm thinking I probably need code in two separate places - at the table to force a unique ID on each table row as it's created, and at the dropdown list to pull a variable number of entries into the dropdown values. Sending the table data out to a separate data file ...
