opening a file from a db is a two step process,1. use server side code to grab the file from the db andplace it a temp web folder. return the url of the new file back tothe flex client2. call navigateToURL() from flex to open the new file in anew browser window

the LCDS sql assembler might be a good fit for you. it allowsyou to do sql crud from flex. there's not server side coding, justxml config. http://livedocs.adobe.com/livecycle/8.2/programLC/programmer/lcds/help.html?content=dms_standard_assemblers_2.html#334899

Can you post your x-domain file here? also, can you use ahttp proxy, such as the charles debug proxy, to see if the x-domainfile is indeed fetched. it could be just a permission issue withthe file.

blazeds should be on the high end of the performance scale, compare to WS or REST. To test for low bandwidth environments, usecharles debug proxy to throttle the traffic.

you might find this article useful, http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/flex_ws.htmlnote, flex only supports up to soap 1.1. i'm not an .netexpert, but i believe it uses a higher version of soap by default.i would recommend you looking into weborb for .net instead.

try the following these steps,1. on the server side, return the blob data as byte[]. thatwill be serialized into a ByteArray object in AS32. use flash.Display.Loader as the container for the image.load the ByteArray using Loader.loadBytes(...)3. add the Loader object to the display

this is really a Flex/AIR performance problem, not related todata services. considering AS3 does not support multi-threading, and notlikely to support it in the next version, I suggest you transferthe files using multipart post instead of ws.

severals things could go wrong here. to trouble shoot,- first look into your jboss to make sure the amf servlet isrunning- in your flex builder, in flex properties, make sure theserver root and context config is correct. - after you change server configuration file, run a projectclean in the flex builder to pick up the changes

this is really a browser issue outside the scope of dataservices. my best guess is to use javascript in the html wrapper tosilence the 401 responses.

if I'm understanding this correctly, you are trying todisplay an array, with each item in its own text box. in that case, use the repeater component and set the array as the dataprovider.

it's a standard message if your client can't connect to theamf servelet. your amf servlet url appears to be http://localhost:8400/messagebroker/amf.is your blazeds is hosted under http://localhost:8400/blazeds?in that case, you need to go to the project property and correctthe server configuration.

I'm not sure if I fully understand your question. You need atimer object to invoke the same url using HTTPService.send()function on a regular time interval. Is that correct? If that isthe case, you need to look into AsyncToken class for tracking theresponses.

Re: How to bind data returned from fill() method with another Collection

generates a "message" event whenthere's a fill update. Alternatively, ArrayCollection alsogenerates a "collecitonChange" event when it's changed. Just out of curiosity, is there a reason you are not bindingthe managed ArrayCollection directly to the data grid?

there might be others ways of doing it, but i would track thechanges at the data source level.store your data set in an ArrayCollection. Bind your datagrid to the ArrayCollection object as its data source.with the ArrayCollection, attach an event handler to thecollectionChange event. you can use the handler to track which rowsof data has been changed. http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/langref/mx/collections/ArrayCollection.html

I assume you have LCDS installed with CF and you are usingthe remote object service, ......private function insertUser_result(event:ResultEvent) { trace(event.result);}event.result will be the id of the newly inserted record.BTW, I would highly recommend you looking into the datamanagement servcie. the SQLAssembler can spare you of the CF codefor simple CRUDs like this.

Re: Can the Data Management Service detect database changes ?
Avatar

There's a way for LCDS to monitor a database, but it requirespolling in your server side code. In your custom assembler, spin athread to poll the database with DataServiceTransaction.refreshFillfunction. It's not going to give you realtime update, but it's morescalable then polling from the clients.
