We're currently looking to rebuild our data layer so I was seeing if the ACDL could be an option. As we're at early stages, we could rename it accordingly and structure it as described in the documentation. I was just wondering how it would all work if there isn't a clear path to the data being pushed to the data layer. I would like to know what the end-to-end looks like really after having implemented the ACDL, how to get the data from it using Launch, and send it into Analytics etc.

Hi everyone!Just checking out this documentation:https://github.com/adobe/adobe-client-data-layer/wikiI'm guessing this allows you to use the Adobe Client Data Layer extension in Launch. My question, how do you reliably reference elements in the data layer if it pushes the objects and parameters as indexed items in an array? Our data layer is an object so it's very easy to reference the path as a JS variable e.g. digitalData.product.id, but if it's in an array how would you know which index number...

Cool. It's always good to hear that the method I'm using isn't fundamentally incorrect. I've followed up with our developers and it turns out they've introduced a new page variant and changed the ID of the element where we're scraping the value for the data element from, whilst also not passing a value to the data layer.

Hi everyone!Sometimes we have a situation where we reference the value of a different data element in a separate data element i.e. we define a variable in custom code using _satellite.getVar().I was wondering if this introduces a race condition meaning that you end up with a data element that doesn't return a value at the point when it's requested even though there may be one as the functions that set the values of the data elements don't run in a specific order.Use case is when we create fallba...

Hi everyone! We've just deployed an A/B test with a simple 50/50 split. The test has been running for 3 days and the current split is 66% control, 34% test for 222 visitors (we're using Analytics for Target as the reporting source). Yesterday, it was an 80/20 split between the control and test variants. The test itself deploys a client side redirect if the customer has a specific cookie value (we're not using the built in redirect to page option in Target as we need to modify the cookie value befor...

Description -In template rules for page delivery, add a note to the UI when multiple values can be accepted on different lines. In other Adobe products (e.g. Analytics processing rules), this is made clear in the UI. It is also made clear in the audience creation dropdowns. This makes it seem as though you can't do this in page delivery, otherwise you'd think the same message of 'Enter each value in new line' would be applied to the empty fieldWhy is this feature important to you -In Target, it ...

It would be great if this could be added to the documentation somewhere or a note added next to the fields as it isn't clear they can take multiple line separated values and effectively allow you to use both AND and OR in a rule?

Hi @jantzen_belliston-Adobe, none of the answers so far address the issue. The key thing for me is that the visits and unique visitors metrics aren't instance or occurrence based metrics and are linked to s.t() calls so in my mind (and from our historical data), eVar1 with unique visitors should be more or less the same as the page dimension with the same metrics as they are explicitly passed at the same time. Regardless of eVar persistence and the use of s.tl() calls on the page for click event...

Brilliant. Thanks for the tip. If I set it up like this with an OR statement won't the segment for clicked 3 links for instance group everyone who has clicked 1, 2, and 3 links together though?

Hi everyone! Is there any performance benefit from deleting rules after disabling them? It's easy enough to filter out disabled components, but I wondered if the performance of Launch is compromised at all by having over 100 disabled rules and over 200 disabled data elements.

The eVar instances are higher than the page views but this is simply because the eVar is being passed with an event in an s.tl() call which shouldn't have an effect on the visits or unique visitors metrics. Historically, the unique visitors has lined up perfectly for the page and eVar1 dimensions.

Thanks Arun. Page views do match up. The visits scenario shouldn't be an issue because the page has a 20 minute timeout, that navigates the customer to an error page as soon as the session expires.

Hi everyone! The screenshot below shows the volume of unique visitors for eVar1 and the page dimension for the same page name.We have one s.t() call on the page sending the page name to both s.pageName and eVar1. There are a couple of click events on the page, but these fire s.tl() calls so should not inflate the metrics like visits, unique visitors, page views etc. for eVar1.As you can see, eVar1 unique visitors are generally much higher than unique visitors to the page dimension, until a point ...

The issue was caused by a duplicated purchase ID that was causing Analytics to ignore the request. I asked the app developers to ensure the purchase ID was unique for each event and now it is working well.

All good questions 🙂 I'm concerned that the clearVars action is populating the eVar more frequently than before. In DTM we used clearVars each time we loaded the Analytics tool but have had to extend this to direct calls and events to prevent event stacking. Customer Care can't see an issue so I'm going to ask the Consulting team to take a look.

The event itself was linked to our page load rule. It just fired the success event if the page was the specified page name. I had to turn off the events in our production environment. I'll have a look at the historical data as you've suggested.

When I review the calls on the page the visitor ID maintains the same value from the original page view hit across the link tracking calls on the page. I'm using the standard 'Send Beacon' action. There's one page load rule that sets all the variables and a direct call rule that fires on completion of different sections of the form. Both set variables, send beacon, and then clear variables. The direct call is an s.tl() call.

Hi Andrey. Thanks for the response. In the interim I decided to turn off the events on the live site. However, it looks like it's linked to a wider issue we're having following our migration which I've detailed here: https://experienceleaguecommunities.adobe.com/t5/adobe-experience-platform-launch/inflated-page-name-evar-migrating-from-dtm-to-launch/qaq-p/377767

Hi everyone! We recently migrated from DTM to Launch. We save our page name to eVar1. What we've noticed since migrating is that on pages where there are events firing e.g. direct call rules or clicks, the number of unique visitors to eVar1 is a great deal higher than the unique visitors to the page name dimension. There haven't been any changes to the configuration of the events other than having to add in the clear variables action in the Launch rules so that the events string is reset after an e...
