Thank you - testing is always good! But, if the form at least opens, that takes one piece out of the equation.

Hi,We're looking at purchasing licenses for AEM 6.4 (not the server) so we can continue to update our LiveCycle Designer ES4 forms.Does anyone have any experience with that? Do they just "open" or are there transition issues to be aware of?Thank you,Deb

The only way to tell if your changes helped is for me to use the form, and I don't have an active review waiting. I'll keep updating as I go through this.Unfortunately, I am the only one who enters data in the form, so all the crashing happens for me!The reason I had those subforms "following previous" was to avoid lots of white space. The required portion of the review is often just a little over one page, so it leaves a lot of white space if I force the recommended part of the review to the ne...

I have a form created in LiveCycle 8.2.1. I've added the form to a public "briefcase" from my campus collaboration suite:http://huskymail.mtu.edu/home/ddc@mtu.edu/AdobeI use it to review a thesis or dissertation submitted to the Graduate School. I have three master pages for the form:Page 1: first pagePage 2: Required items student must completePage 3: Recommended items student may completeAs the required section is paginated, it flows onto the required page so that there is a heading at the top...

Re: Stumped on syntax - signature validation

The examples were just what I needed - thanks for pointing me to them. Not sure why I couldn't find them with my own searching!I did get the code to work even when the signatures were hidden. I moved the code from the VALIDATE event to the CHANGE event - this is what I noted in the examples. The working code is:var status = event.target.getField("form1[0].Page1[0].Approval[0].AsstDean[0]").signatureValidate();if (status < 3) { Program.presence = "hidden"; Incomplete.presence = "visible"; }else {...

Sure... I've attached it. Being self-taught, I'm sure there is plenty to critique. It's not finished yet - I need to do some polishing - but the only bug in it is the signature validating. I basically want to toggle two different subforms on and off when the form is signed/unsigned.The field that I'm working on is on the next to last page of the form.

The grey area in the area of the script I'm putting this script says: form1.Page1.Approval.AsstDean::validate - (JavaScript, client)So, I put the following as the status check line:status = event.target.getField("form1[0].Page1[0].Approval[0].AsstDean[0]").signatureValidate();I get the error " Error: null is not an object"

I have, by the way, previously (in the same script) defined "status" as a variable:The first line of the script is "var status = 1;" - I was previously checking the other code.

Stumped on syntax - signature validation

I'm putting script in the "validate" event for my signature, so that when the form is validated, two fields will toggle on and off. The field is called "AsstDean". I get the error "null is not an object", and I'm just stumped. I tried to follow the example from the LiveCycle help, but there is something off with my syntax. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-s...

Re: Tables in Live Cycle - issues with borders

Actually, I did fix this in Live Cycle 8.05, but then went with a different way of doing the form after all!You need to individually select each cell, row (and sometimes the table) to alter the borders. In this version, if you select the row and apply a border to the top and bottom, the cells retain their left/right borders (for example). If you download the file I attached, and select one of the cells labeled "Top border is solid, all others are none (applied to whole row)", you'll notice that ...

Thank you so much for the assistance. I couldn't find any examples for finding an object in a row, so this is very helpful. I used the code, and fixed my problem! I've been working on this form for 9 months, and it can finally go live now. I think the rest will be easier!

Setting mandatory/optional for objects in variable sized table

Hi -I have a table (Name) with a variable number of rows (Name2). It's on the subform Committee.CommitteeReq. The table has two columns. The first column is blank (to align some other items), while the second column contains a text field (Member). I want to toggle whether or not the field Name.Name2.Member is required.I've created a simple version of the form (attached) that has a "yes/no" question at the top for whether or not the committee is required. I've tried putting the following code to ...

orry about that.. I'm totally wrong, and this works as it should. When I do use the "email" button, it gives me an error when the form is blank. I (wrongly) assumed that it was trying to attach a blank xml file. It won't attach a blank or partially filled pdf file, but I think this is ok. I'd prefer they fill it completely before e-mailing it, anyway.

break.startNew - works in Reader 9 but not Reader 8

Something interesting I discovered that I didn't see on the message board..I"m using the command:subform.break.startNew = "1";in javascript to control whether a subform starts on a new page (1) or not (0). I have a form where in some instances, I want a page break, and in some, I don't. I discovered that this command works like a charm in Acrobat 8, and Reader 9, but does not work in Reader 8.

I am using LiveCycle Designer version 8.05.When I open my form in Acrobat (8) or Reader (8/9), the e-mail button on the toolbar defaults to sending an xml file. I would prefer it to be an attached pdf file, since most of the recipients won't understand how to import data into a form. The form is meant to be printed and signed to be submitted. Is there any way to make the toolbar button default to attaching a pdf? I've read the threads about buttons on the forms, but haven't seen one addressing th...

I knew this was simpler than I was making it!I didn't think of the hidden aspect, since I'm currently trying to get everything to work properly. Thank you!I'm now making the subform "hidden" as the default, with the pagination set to "Top of Next Page". When I print, I toggle the presence to "visible" in the prePrint coding area, and then back to "hidden" in the postPrint area.

Control placement of subform using scripting

I have a form where I would like to have a subform hidden while the user is entering data, and then reveal during printing. This I can do (just toggle the presence during the pre/post print scripting areas). When the document is printed, I also want to control the pagination of the subform to force it to the top of the next page - but only when printing. If I do this using the palette Object...Pagination...Place (Top of next page), it works, but it creates a large gap when the user is filling out...

Is 8.2 the most current version and bundled with Acrobat 9? The system administrators here have had some issues with deploying 9 (something about network issues), so I'm not sure that I can upgrade. I downloaded the trial of 8.2 to my personal laptop, which doesn't help me much at work.

Hi-I'm using Live Cycle 8.05. I've created some tables, and I'd like to format them so that there are only borders between rows. The table is multiple rows long, and three columns. I remove the borders just fine, but when I try to individually apply a border along the top edge of the table (by either selecting a row or cell), I get vertical borders where I don't want them. See attached example.I downloaded a trial of Live Cycle 8.2, and it works as desired there. Is there a patch I should be dow...
