Thanks Kautik. If there's a possible ootb (-ish) solution for this it'll be of great help.I guess adaptive document / pages should be convertible to PDF (either through http://blogs.adobe.com/sunil/2013/04/29/creating-pdf-output-in-adobe-cq/ or through PDF generator? - let me know if wrong). The question is on how to get data from services (say osgi ones) into adaptive documents. I could see in the documentation that data dictionary can be used for loading adaptive docs with dynamic data. But data...

Thank you all for the answers on this.I was definitely thinking of a custom solution (using PDFBox etc) for this as an option. But if there was an ootb solution, would have preferred to use that as an option. Can an adaptive document be used for this? Is it capable of having dynamic data loaded into it? The data in the XML is coming from REST services, so if adaptive documents supports dynamic data then at run time, all the required data can be loaded into it and the document itself rendered as a ...

Thanks Scott for the answer.I do know clientlibs are used to add styles. My question was mainly around applying styles through the use of cq:designPath as given here: http://blogs.adobe.com/sunil/2015/04/29/aem-developers-apply-a-design-to-the-aem-sightly-template/In case of cq:designPath, all styles added under that path would get applied. If you want to change the style, it's just a matter of pointing cq:designPath to a different design path. What I was asking was, does cq:designPath bear any i...

Hello, Had a question regarding AEM designer. From what I have read of it (mainly from here : https://docs.adobe.com/docs/en/aem/6-2/develop/the-basics/designer.html) it's used to give different look and feel to the same set of components / pages depending on the design path that is set on the page. But in the examples shown, the css file is not added as a clientlib or under a clientLibFolder. Is it possible to bring the benefits of designer to components where clientlibs are used? In other words...

Hello, I was just wondering why the new forms in AEM are called 'adaptive'? Is it because of their responsive design in that they will adapt the layout and look / feel based on the device used? Or is there some other functionality that explains the use of that term?Often, prospective clients ask about this so just wanted to be sure we'd be giving them the right explanation. Thanks.

I understand that authorization is supported using CUG i.e. users may or may not have access to a page based on his group. But is there an authorization mechanism for elements within a page?i.e. if we want a component to be shown only to certain groups of users or even sections within components to be shown / hidden depending on the logged in user. Is this possible on a publish instance? Thanks.

Hello, Is there a way to use different set of styling (css classes) info for different domains in the same AEM instance? For e.g. there maybe two root nodes for the 2 domains with the same page structure and the same set of components / templates being used in both places. Only thing that would need to differ is the styling or css classes. Is this possible short of using two different code bases and instances? If yes, any other way of doing it rather than having two root nodes with duplicate pag...

Hello, For URL rewrites, vanity URLs, etc.. what would be pros and cons of doing it the 'AEM way' (etc/maps, resource resolver) vs doing it the traditional way of setting the rules in apache mod_rewrites?Neither one seems author-friendly so what would underly choosing one over the other? In fact, in case of AEM, at least the first request for a page should go all the way to the instance for the URL conversion (subsequent requests will be fetched from the cache I'm guessing) whereas in case of ap...

Is there an automated way to do this (osgi config?) or is it only possible via manual replication or packaging of code / content? I understand one of the main features of AEM forms is to be able to easily reuse xfa / pdf forms and also being able to render them in html5 so that it can be responsive. Also, it allows very seamless uploading of xfa forms created in other systems (like Lifecycle)But, does it make sense to use forms for a standard web based form. By that I mean something like a login / registration form or a check out based form or something similar to these. There does seem to be many out of the box fields but...

Thank you all for the replies. The main benefit of the 'AEM way of doing analytics' that I can glean from your posts is that mapping of SC vars (s.prop, evar, etc.) to page data can be done in the framework UI and doesn't have to be done in the code itself (like s.prop = <%=request.get..%>). Also, making these mapping changes in the UI updates the analytics related JS in the code without any manual effort or code change which can then be replicated unto publishers. In that sense, would you say tha...
