It's actually easier to enable the forms using the pdfjt than with the LiveCycle Reader Extensions, which does require that you set up a server, though I believe it can be on a workstation. The Datalogics people will be able to provide more guidance.

To clarify, Reader 11 is able to save a non-enabled AcroForm (created with Acrobat), but not an XFA form created with LiveCycle Designer. Adobe Reader Extensions is software that adds usage rights to PDFs. It can add more than Acrobat is able to.

You ca apply standard password security in Acrobat. You don't need to set an open password, just a permissions password. Exactly how you do this depends on what version of Acrobat you have, but you can always select: File > Properties > Security > Security Method > Password Security
