Something like this is an idea that we're working on for next year, not sure exactly how it would work yet, but totally recognize the need for a central place to modify rule components and data elements that can be used by multiple properties and managed in one place.
OK, that sounds like our dependency checker is running amok. I'd appreciate a private message with the URL to the property and I'll log a bug to have the team take a look.
Can you be more specific? Are you making changes inside an actual rule? Or inside the Analytics extension configuration screen (global variables for example)? And the warning you're asking about is when you are inside the Edit Library screen when you push the Save button?
I agree that having a deletion be a change that needs to be published like any other change would be the simplest way to manage that. The technical guts of accomplishing that (states of being marked for deletion without actually being deleted) is more than what we wanted to take on for a first phas...
It's a good idea and one that shouldn't be too hard. I've got the front-end dev team in the middle of a couple other projects, but we'll try to pick this one up afterwards.
It should be working now. We've had a recurring problem with our connection to Akamai. Testing a permanent fix now with plans to release it on Tuesday.
Can you dream about it? Sure =)Can I guarantee it? Unfortunately no. We will first work on rule copy (within a property), and the ability to copy ruls, data elements, and extensions across properties. Then we'll work on copying the whole property.
