Re: Pull Users into Custom Forms - Workfront 22-08-2018
I hadn't seen that this had passed the threshold, that's great. In response to Mariam's question: for the sake of user-friendly reporting, I would recommend the parameter label and value both be set to the user's name. At first, I thought I would want the user ID as the value so we could create reports with filters like newCustomField=$$USER.ID, and someone can see all the objects in which they were selected in that custom field. But, that makes for really messy reports. E.g. "show me all the ob...

Re: New Home: Add Field Project Owner - Workfront 20-08-2018
Hi Dr. Zoidberg I mean Pat I mean Jamie, In some scenarios, yes; but those are limited and I think worth the efficiency gain. In this example, where the Project Owner Name is being pulled into the project's custom form and then selected to display in the Home view, there is no risk. If the Project Owner were to change after the form was initially attached, that action applies a recalculation to the project form, so the value is always up to date. Same for the assigned Portfolio/Program, and anyt...

Re: New Home: Add Field Project Owner - Workfront 16-08-2018
A work around for this limitation is to add a calculated field that captures the Project Owner's name to whatever custom forms are regularly attached to your project. In the Home Layout options, you can then choose Project.Project Owner Name (or whatever you choose to call it). We've done this to display details about the portfolio and project details so they display for every task when viewed in Home.

Copied and Duplicated objects should retain revoked inherited permissions. - Workfront 28-06-2018
When an object (especially tasks) is duplicated, the duplicate object retains the sharing and access permissions of the original (e.g. specific users and groups who were granted access to the original object also have access to the duplicate.) But if the original object had inherited permissions revoked, that revocation does NOT carry over to the duplicate, and there is now wide visibility of the duplicate, where there was limited visibility of the original. This can be solved if the user manual...

Re: Ability to hyperlink directly to a team's Working on tab - Workfront 21-05-2018
Hi Jennifer, stumbled upon this while upvoting all of your terrific submissions! This one is possible now. The URL is: https://.my.workfront.com/people?activeTab=content-team-workingOn&tabTeamID=; You'll need to fetch the team ID from a report. I've compiled a lot of these types of direct links, available here if you're interested.

Re: Wildcard off of a custom field - Workfront 21-05-2018
It's frustrating that we can attach custom fields to a user profile, but can't use them to filter different types of objects which also contain those fields. Dashboards become a lot more targeted and easier to manage if we could add filters like: Campaign>>{Business Unit} equals $$USER.{Business Unit} Project>>{Delivery Channel} equals $$USER.{Delivery Channel} Request>>{Supported Application} equals $$USER.{Supported Application} Filtering requests is a biggie - It would help to workaround the ...

Re: Color attribute for more objects + reference system prefs for default chart colors - Workfront 10-04-2018
So, it's been said before and I will not argue... sometimes I am a dummy! #3 in this list already behaves the way I described. I am not afraid to admin when I am wrong But, I still would love to see #1 and #2 implemented!

Color attribute for more objects + reference system prefs for default chart colors - Workfront 09-04-2018
There was a lot of excitement when this enhancement was delivered. While I'm grateful for the added flexibility, there is still a lack of a persistent colors and therefore a lot of effort still goes into getting the right colors for charts. What I would like to see are three things: Expanded list of objects that can have designated colors In the same way that you can assign a color to task/issue/project statuses (by group), and priorities/severities; also be able to assign a custom color to Grou...

Re: Possibility to restore deleted Views - Workfront 05-04-2018
I just got burned by this, royally... Apparently a fellow admin of mine did not see the need for a view that took me a couple hours to design in text mode, and was applied to several group's layouts. Instead of just removing it from the layouts, they completely deleted it and now I have to repeat the work.

Fix the tool tip when mouse over statuses (project, task, issue) - Workfront 12-02-2018
The Project/Task/Issue status preferences in Setup >> Project Preferences >> Statuses allow you to add descriptions to each status. But, I have yet to see when or where these descriptions are actually shown to users. We have custom statuses that are not self-evident, or should only be used in certain circumstances. The description field is perfect to convey those details, but no one can see it. Instead, when the user mouses over a status, the tool tip simply repeats the name of the status. I'm n...
