Import Shared Audiences into Analytics

Avatar

Level 3

Hi,

We have some segments in Shared Audiences from Adobe Campaign which we want to pass to Adobe Analytics.

How do we go about it?

Thanks.

Marina

Hi Marina,

Adobe Campaign supports visitorID (which is the same as MCID from Campaign's perspective) or what we call declaredID, which is for you to define through a reconciliation key. Usually, Adobe takes charge of that part for you when provisioning/setting up the integration. Though I'm not sure you can reconcile with other than profile data.

Here is the documentation we have on this subject: Introduction - Provisioning and configuration - Importing/Exporting audiences

You can also find information about cookies used by Campaign here: Foreword

Hope this helps,

Florent.

Hi Marina,

There isn't a way to share a segment from Adobe Campaign to Adobe Analytics. You can go the other way by creating a segment in Analytics and sharing that with the Experience Cloud, which can be accessed by Campaign. That integration is still in beta and requires consulting services to enable.

Thanks Jantzen.Belliston

this is exactly how we passed teh segments into the Cloud

provided that now we have:

  • sftp
  • destination  & sources IDs in Shared Audiences
  • segments IDs

is there a way we could get those segments into Analytics via Data Sources using exactly the same method as AC to AMC?

Not that I'm aware of. There used to be a feature in beta for sharing an AAM segment back into Analytics, but it was pulled out of beta for improvements. As some point, it will likely be released again but it's not available as of now. I'll copy the community managers for Analytics and Campaign below just in case they have heard of any other way to accomplish this.

Gigazelle  / florentlb - Have you heard of a way to bring Campaign segments into Analytics?

Thank you, Jantzen.Belliston, appreciated

Gigazelle, florentlb - we have exported segments from AC to AMC.

I would like to understand how I can import them into AA from AMC using AA Data Sources and the same IDs for source//destination (it is the same destination, isn't it?) and the same sftp configuration that we used to exporting segments into AMC.

Could you please guide me on this part, thank you

Hi Marina,

You have several ways of transferring data from Campaign to Analytics but for segments/audiences, going through Audience Manager or People core service is the right thing to do. I don't know much about the technical details for going from AAM to Analytics though.

There's a section in the Audience Manager documentation related to data sharing with other solutions: Share Data With Other Marketing Cloud Solutions

"going through Audience Manager or People core service is the right thing to do"

This was the beta integration I was referring to. There isn't a way to take Experience Cloud Audiences (part of the People Core Service) and put them back into Analytics. Currently, you can only share a segment (audience) from Analytics into the Experience Cloud.

Gigazelle - Might have another way to bring the data in via another Analytics tool/method.

Most of the use cases I've seen implemented involving audience sharing with Campaign are the other way around, i.e. from Analytics to AAM and then to Campaign.

Marina, I'd be really interested in knowing more about your use case, and I hope that Analytics experts can help you with going from AAM to Analytics.

Thank you.I would definitely appreciate further input please.

Just to add some clarity:

1. We know how to import segments from AAM to AA

2. This particular client does not have AAM

3. In this case we use Shared Audiences to carry out some of AAM functionality such as passing segments between Adobe native solutions

4. The use case is to pass segments created in AC Standard to AA for analysis purposes

5. We can pass segments from AC to Shared Audiences

6. We are trying to work out how to pass them further from Shared Audiences to AA (or get AA to pick them up)

I am wondering if the functionality of Data Sources in AA can be used for this purpose?

Gigazelle, I would be  interested to hear your thoughts please

Data Sources involves the importing of hits into an Analytics report suite. You can technically place whatever data you want into a report suite using data sources, however I'm not sure if it will work with your use case.

Several months ago there was an internal event where employees went through the workflow of integrating analytics with campaign (among other things). One of the things that was discovered is that the AA/AC integration has quite a few issues. I have not heard the current status of it, but I do know it is still a work in progress.

Can we import dimensions linked to MCID into AA via Data Sources?

Data Sources are typically used to tie online/offline data together, and the way that is done is via the transactionID variable. I am not aware of a way to use transactionID specific to Adobe Campaign, but if you are able to determine a method, it is certainly within the realm of possibility.

thanks, Gigazelle

Adobe Campaign has deliveryID that I assume may work similar to transactilnID, perhaps florentlb could clarify?

However I am not sure what ID is used to store AC audiences in AMC (Shared Audiences). Jantzen.Belliston would it be MCID, viistorID, else?

My thinking is if we cant use the same ID as Shared Audiences uses to pass those audiences into AA via Data Sources, then .... what are other options? Could cookies be an option? Can Adobe Campaign can be configured set cookies?  florentlb

The Experience Cloud Audiences use the MCID 'mid' value to ID the user across products. Using your own ID as the 'mid' is not supported and can result in issues with the integrations.

Hi Marina

Is there an answer we can mark as correct here in case others also have this question?

Thanks,
