Recommendations: Excluding Entity from Recommendation

Hello,

When running a recommendation activity, one of the recommended products shown is the product where I'm running the activity.  I know that I can create a collection where the product is excluded but I'm sure that there has to be a way within the criteria where this can be done.  I tried setting an attribute rule (both Profile Attribute Matching and Parameter Matching but it doesn't work.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.
