Referencing an excel table

Hello,

It is possible to have a PDF reference an excel table. I'm build an estimate form and I've got a dropdown section where I list all of my company's products. Based on a user's selection, I would like the PDF to auto-populate a field with pricing from an Excel table. If I can't use excel, what else could I do?

I was also thinking I could create an additional page (hidden) which would include the date I need.

Thanks

Tim

It is possible but I do not recommend it. You woudl require that the Excel Spreadsheet be setup as an ODBC data source. Then your form could communicate with Excel through ODBC. This requires that each users machine be set up with an ODBC connection as well if you are using Reader you woudl have to purchase LiveCycle Reader Extensions server to allow the form to use ODBC connections in Reader.

If Reader is the target the most common way of getting this dropdown populated is to hard code the values into the form.
