Opening form PDF from InDesign in LiveCycle Designer E2

I have a student who sent me an email about a problem he has using LiveCycle Designer E2.

He created an interactive PDF with what I assume is a ListBox or ComboBox in InDesign.

The form (and other elements) work fine when opened in Acrobat.

But he needs to open the PDF in LiveCycle Designer E2 to "add image field".

I don't know enough about LiveCycle to answer his question.

  1. Does he have to use LiveCycle to add that image field? Is that something that InDesign could do?
  2. Does anyone know of problems when opening existing PDFs with forms in LiveCycle?
  3. Is he using LiveCycle incorrectly?

Any help is very appreciated.

Hi, Sandee Cohen

The email is sent to you it’s from me.

My problem is: the form work fine  when exported to interactive pdf from indesign CS6, but when I open it on LiveCycle to Add Image Field the list box related to Show/Hide Buttons and Form action can’t work.

Hi Salah,

Well, you can see that I am trying to find the answer.

I just downloaded your LiveCycle PDF and it works perfectly. I was able to click the radio buttons for the cities and they work.

I also clicked the image field and was able to add an image.

The only time this didn't work was when I viewed the PDF in a browser.

So we're getting closer to a solution.

Hi Sandee,

For my side the radio buttons for cities work fine when it click, but without associated with List Box.

The image field work fine.

This issue drive me crasy why LivecCycle failed to read list box.

The Presence setting for your list boxes is set to "Visible (Print Only)".

On the Field tab of the Object Palette (Window>Object or Shift-F7) you need to set the Presence for the fields to "Visible".
