Help Creating Sequential Number System

Avatar

Hello I have created a form with livecycle to be used for purchase request at our company. I need help with a field that can retreive a unique number each time the form is opened or saved. Current paper system is sequential numbering 20011, 20012.... I need to replicate this in either an adobe DB or mysql DB or something else that works. I can host the form and database on a local area network server. I have added a link below that goes to the PDF on my site for your review. The field I would like to have the number in is RFP# at the top right of the form.  I do not have a livecycle server or know if I need one. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I haven't looked at the form, however there are plenty examples for setting up a data connection in a LC Designer form to a database. See Stefan's blog here: http://forms.stefcameron.com/.

However one aspect to bear in mind is that the data connection will not work if the user has Reader, UNLESS the form has been Reader Enabled beforehand with the full LC Reader Extensions. See summary here: http://assure.ly/etkFNU.

That may be the limiting factor you need to consider before spending time trying to set up the data connection.

Hope that helps,

Niall
