Form Not saving with all information, Please Help!

I received a form that I need to fill out and save, apparently it was created in Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0, Acrobat Pro says that it is an XML form.

Adobe Reader says that it cannot save the form which is fine because I have Adobe Acrobat Pro.

However when I fill out the form in Acrobat Pro and save as it only saves the first line of data, all the rest of the data disappears.

I have tried extending the features of the form so that it can be saved from adobe reader. I can now save the form in adobe reader but I still only saves the first line of information.

The form has some calculations in it, it adds up the number of items and gives you a total. It also works out a total cost based on the price you input.

I dont know if that makes and difference. Im going insane, does anyone know why its only saving the first line of data?

Thanks for any help,

Regards,

Kirsten

I forgot to add that I work on a mac

Hi Kirsten,

I have the form now and here it is back: https://acrobat.com/#d=wIDUGtoBqeVCOauJ8m*Z2g

Its not 100% fixed because there are a few things going on. First there is part of a data connection in the form, where objects in the first row are bound to the data connection, but it does not appear to exist. Can you confirm if you are using a data connection to interact with a database?

All of the objects were on the Master page and there wasn't a design page at all. I have moved the table to a design page.

I have set the 'preserve script changes' to auto. I have not changed the binding, as I am not sure what your data requirements are. Also there is script that appears to be an open error that I think is part of the legacy data connection.

If you can give a bit more information we should be able to get the form working fully.

Hi,

Since you are using a Mac, can you just make sure that the form is NOT opening in Apple Preview. This messes up the form and should not be used for forms. There are several threads on this topic, a quick search for 'preview' should bring them up.

If the form has not been Reader Enabled by the author, then users with Reader cannot save the data inputted. This topic is also covered in the forums.

In relation to saving the data, which then disappears, I suspect that the author needs to open the form in LC Designer and in the File > Form Properties > Defaults tab, set the 'preserve script changes' to automatic. Also it would be worth checking if the fields have normal/name binding in the Object > Binding tab.

Good luck,

Niall

Hi,

I know 100% for sure that they are NOT opening in preview. I open them in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9

It does not say I cannot save the data in the form, I am able to save it but it only saves the data that I input into the first line.

I am unable to contact whoever produced the actual form so I cant ask them to do anything to it.

Thanks, Kirsten

Hi Niall,

Thanks so much for your help, whatever you have done has worked! I can now fill in and save the form with all information!

I do not need to interact with any database. I just need to be able to fill it out and save it with the filled out information still there.

I also get the error when opening but the file still opens.

I have one more form that I need to fill out, would you please do whatever you did to the first one to this form to?

I am forever grateful, thank you so much!

Hi Kirsten,

Here is the first form back again. I have taken out the surplus data connection and sorted the binding. All errors are gone now and the form seems to be OK.

Here is the second form. Similarly I have deleted the data connection, set a binding for all of the fields, brought the table out to a new design page and cleared errors.

Hopefully everything is working as you intended.
