I created a numeric floating field within static text to test dynamic PDF;
I placed the static text in a subform and made it flowed. Now the dynamic copy of the floating field follows the static text. - so not a solution.
Any suggestions?
I would make sure you are using floating fields properly, they are a little odd. There are actually two fields created, one in the body of the text and a hidden field outside of the text.

I need to update our forms to Dynamic PDF. The forms contain several underline fields to be filled by the user.
E.g. This is an example of a _____________________ ; the field is underline and requires the user to type in the underline field.
The floating field gives the appearance of being dynamic, but the dynamic field is actually separate for the display.
E.g. This is an example of a _____________________ ; the field is underline and requires the user to type in the underline field.
[the dynamic field to fill]
Typing in the [dynamic field] will eventually update the underline field; but this is not the user experience we are looking for.
We should be able to type in the underline field and dynamically adapt the length of the field to flow with the sentence.

Yeah, unfortunately that's not the way floating fields work. Maybe one day...I think the basic problem is the floating fields were designed with merging data in mind, not being directly filled in.
You can check out these blogs posts for a workaround, it's not pretty but works:

Please follow the below steps (not sure whether this is what you are looking for):
1) Take one Text object and place the text before the numberic value in it.
2) Take one Numeric field object (or any other field) in which the user will enter the value of his choice and length. Keep the property "Layout/Width/Expand to Fit" as checked.
3) Now take another Text object and place it next to Numeric field and place the remaining static text in it.
4) Wrap these three field in a subform with "Content" option as Flowed and select "Flow Direction" as Western Text
Now test the behavior. I think this should solve.
Thanks,
VJ

Thank you, but I see that you do not support dynamic floating field.
I am not trying to write columns. I expect the text in the second text field (3rd object) to wrap to the beginning of the line of the first text field (1st object).
What I have is clearly 3 separate objects presented sequentially.
