Error opening xdp form

Avatar

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to create/save a XDP form in LiveCycle Designer. I created a Form in the Designer and saved it as Test.xdp, but when I open I am getting the error message "Unable to locate the form, because the XFA data lacks a reference to the PDF document. If the data came back as a result of a submit from a PDF form, then the URL is probably missing "#FDF" at the end."

Thanks,

Pavan

Thats because the XDP extension is registered to Acrobat/Reader. If you open Designer first then do a file open and choose the xdp fiole it wil open just fine.

You are right, I can open that XDP file in the Designer, but what should I do if I want to open that form outside the Designer (in Acrobat Reader/Pro..etc)

Thanks,

The XDP format is a native XML format for the template and is intended for Designer. If you want to create a usable form out of it you would save it as a PDF (out of Designer). That will cause Designer to interpret the XDP and make a PDF for you to use. Now the PDF is usable by both Reader and Acrobat.

Thanks for your response Paul.

I created a form with extension as .PDF and I able to open the form in Acrobat Reader but in order to save the data within the form, what exactly I need to do.

Thanks,

You need to Reader Extend the form to allow this functionality. Open the form in Acrobat and under the Advanced menu choose the Extend Features in Adobe Reader option. Now follow the wizard and it will work now.
