Email in Livecycle

Good day,

I am the IT manager at a school board in Northern Ontario.

In the last few days, I have installed LiveCycle ES2 SP1 on a 64bit Win 08 R2 server, configure LDAP with my MS AD and created my first application (similar to the FirstApp sample) using a Form and a Process. I gave access to a couple of users and tested the system.

All was good up to this point.

I am now working with Email notifications and I am stuck.

Going thru WorkBench ES2 - Windows - Show View - Components

I configure the following services (I only want the system to send notifications emails, not use it to receive emails as Start Points).

Email:1.0

provider.email.sendmail.services:1.0

EmailService:1.0

Our email server does not require authentication, so I am not adding an username or password. I added the IP of the livecycle server in our ALLOW list. This is usually enough to allow other servers (or systems like a printer) to be allowed to send emails thru our email systems.

I tried to install the Stardard Services sample but I get errors even then but I have no interest at this time to configure the system for inbound...

Questions:

1. Are notifications emails automatic in a task Process?

2. If not, how do you configure them? For example, if user A fills a form, I want the supervisor to receive an email that he has a task waiting. After the task is complete, I want the original user to get an email that the task is finished.

3. Is there a log to see where/why the email are blocking?

Thanks.

Michel

In a nutshell,

1. Are notifications emails automatic in a task Process?

Yes

2.  If not, how do you configure them? For example, if user A fills a form,  I want the supervisor to receive an email that he has a task waiting.  After the task is complete, I want the original user to get an email  that the task is finished.

You configure from adminui.

3. Is there a log to see where/why the email are blocking?

Once configured from adminui, you should get the email notification. Also disable your antivirus on the server, it may block port 25. If that's the case you can add an exception to open that port.

Hi Michel

Email notifications in LiveCycle are confirgured via the adminui.

1) You need to set up your email server information on the Email settings page:

http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/adminHelp/admin.htm?content=000340.html

2) Then you enable the type of notification you would like to receive (in your case Task Assignment):

http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/adminHelp/admin.htm?content=000337.html

Once these two pieces are configured, users on the Assign Task service will automatically receive emails at that step.

Start with that and let me know if it's working for you.
