Defining AM and PM in Date/Time field

Avatar

Level 4

Hello,

I can use the display pattern dialogue box to format the time correctly, but need to have my users be able to specify AM or PM.  How do I do that? Right now, if I try to enter a time followed by an AM or PM, the time will not display properly. For instance, typing 830 AM will remain just like that, not 8:30 AM, which is what I want it to do. Without adding the AM, 830 will display as 8:30. I set the display pattern to H:MM.

Thanks in advance!

Adding a capital A indicates that you want an AM/PM used. So the pattern will be h:MM A. Note that it will not add the AM/PM automatically but it will cause a validation error if the user does not add it.
