Anybody got a good solution for a Predictive text field?

Has anybody got a good solution for a text field which predicts what the user is typing?

I know that a dropdown field (which allows Custom Text entry) will limit the dropdown options as the user types - provided it is currently visible.

What about a solution which checks the change or keypress event and offers the user matching values?  Ultimately I also need to ensure that a valid selection is entered.

What is a "Best Practice" or most user friendly option?

I've done a textbox / listbox combination, which seemed to work ok, I posted an example in this thread http://forums.adobe.com/message/2048493.

Thanks Bruce - That definitely helped - I'll show to the customer and let them decide if it acceptable.
