How workbench submits templates to the repository?

In workbench, when a designer is ready to go to the repository, how workbench deals with that? It uses an FTP service, web service or other?

You can just drap and drop your files from the file system into the LiveCycle repository.

But, is it possible to use workbench to submit forms to another repository different than the livecycle repository. Like IBM Content maanager?
