Enlarge 'Check' or 'X' boxes to fit in the field

When I drag and place a check box, how can I enlarge it to the existing field?

I have tried to place 'check' or 'x' boxes on the form. I can not see how to enlarge the boxes. Nothing to 'grab'. Is there a way to enlarge them?

Yes, you can do this quite easily. On the object palette, click on the field sub-tab. There is a size field; if  you want the checkbox larger, increase from default size of 10pt to 14pt or whatever size you want.
