Backing up LC server

The document found in the url below mentions the following regarding backing up the LC database:

"Before backing up the LiveCycle database, you should shutdown the appserver instances hosting LiveCycle as well as any messaging server instances used by LiveCycle for JMS messaging. This is because the messaging engines maintain exclusive locks on these tables. "

Is this really the case? Should we implement a schedule / script where the server is stopped, backed up, then restarted? Are hot backups not recommended?

Here's the url:

You can do hotbackups if you put the server in backup mode. Here's a blog entry that we saw that you might find useful for further information about backup mode. http://blogs.adobe.com/livecycledocs/

You don't need run the backup mode programmatically as you can do it from the Administration Console as well.

Hope that helps!

Also good information at this guide: http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_lc_administration_82

Take a look in the TOC about maintaining and backup up LiveCycle. I forgot to mention that it also depends on the service that you are running...

Cheers!
