The docs clearly state that you cannot update identities for specific reserved namespaces, like ECID. See https://developer.adobe.com/client-sdks/edge/identity-for-edge-network/api-reference/#authenticateds...

Updating identities using a reserved namespace is not allowed using this API. The reserved namespaces are:

• ECID
• IDFA
• GAID
