OOTB /j_security_check  can be used in real time production application using HTTP Basic Authentication in case authentication of user has to be done against CRX out of box user location?

Any risk? or advice?

So decision is mine if my application needed form based basic HTTP authentication. I just wanted to understand how it is safe in terms of user credentials encryption stored in client browser.
