Dynamic vs static templates

Avatar

Are dynamic templates meant to be a replacement of static templates? If not, are there any guidelines as to which of the two template types are to be used depending on the requirement at hand? - mainly asking from the point of view of the layout of a page. Any limitations of dynamic templates that'll necessitate the use of static ones for specific cases?

Is a page component still needed for dynamic templates like they used to for static ones?

Still new to dynamic templates - so just trying to figure out when it'll be appropriate to use them. Thanks.

As you are new to Editable Templates - see this Guided Journey -- Scott's Digital Community: Guided Journey for Experience Manager on Editable Templates

This takes you through everything you need to understand - creating a editbale template, how to drive style, define policies, and then how to create an AEM page based on an editable template.
